American Sokol as a sporting and social organization is where we excel. We plan successful sporting and celebratory events. We work together for the common good. We invite and welcome all volunteers, spectators and participants. In addition, we are a cultural organization that respects our heritage, evidenced by our culinary and beverage appreciation of all things Czech. As well as our ethnic dances, which are well known throughout our membership, and are performed with passion.
The National Polka Festival® in Ennis, Texas invites everyone to come help celebrate many wonderful years of Czech heritage festivities held annually on Memorial Day Weekend. The festival offers an abundance of activities to be enjoyed by the entire family in a small city atmosphere.
The Ennis Czech Music Festival was founded by Bro. David Slovak and since 2006, is held annually in February at the Sokol Activity Center. Come join the Czech Polka Bands of Ennis & enjoy a family atmosphere filled with great music, dancing, food, kid zone, and much more!
The American Czech Culture Society (ACCS) was formed in 1928. It is made up of various Czech organizations, primarily from the Dallas, Ft Worth, and Ennis area. The main focus of the group was to celebrate the Czech culture & heritage at the State Fair of Texas. As times changed, the celebration was discontinued from the State Fair's program. The ACCS now hosts the Annual Czech & Slovak Heritage Day celebrated in October at Sokol Zizka in Dallas, TX. ACCS is very proud of all the great organizations the Czech community has in the State of Texas that are working hard to preserve our Czech culture and heritage for future generations.
TCHCC preserves and promotes the history, language, culture, and heritage of Czech Texans who trace their ancestry to present-day Czech Republic or the former Austro-Hungarian Empire (including Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, and Slovakia)
Czech Heritage Society of Texas is a non-profit organization founded in 1982, dedicated to preservation of Texas Czech Heritage: Genealogy, History, Music, Customs, Food, Costumes, and Language. Ellis County chapter meetings and Czech movie take place every 1st Thursday of the month in the Clubroom at 7pm.
